Ranking Of Adsorbents Based On Method Of Preparation And Freundlich Isotherm

چکیده
A number of novel adsorbents are being investigated in search of an alternative to Commercial Activated Carbon (CAC). Several methodologies are being followed in the preparation of adsorbents from their raw materials. The raw materials used for the preparation of novel adsorbents are broadly classified under three main categories: (i) Agricultural Wastes (AW) (ii) Industrial Wastes (IW) and (iii) Mineral Wastes (MW). The adsorbent preparation methodologies are also categorized based on the primary activities involved in the preparation. Data available in literature is collected and segregated for the above categorization. This database is analyzed to study the effects of (i) raw material of adsorbent and (ii) adsorbent preparation methodology, based on the corresponding Freundlich isotherm constants. Results indicated that, 75.2% of the database comprises of materials based on cheaply available AW and the adsorbents developed from AW are showing better results of adsorption than the other two categories viz., IW & MW. Physical Treatment (P) & Nominal Treatment (N) categories of adsorbent preparation account to 39.59% of the available database. The results obtained from Chemical-Thermal Treatment (CT) and Chemical Treatment (C) categories of adsorbent preparation are better than that of P & N categories. The Freundlich constants available for CAC are also

Novel Silica-Based Hybrid Adsorbents: Lead(II) Adsorption Isotherms
Water pollution caused by the lead(II) from the spent liquor has caught much attention. The research from the theoretical model to application fundaments is of vital importance. In this study, lead(II) adsorption isotherms are investigated using a series of hybrid membranes containing mercapto groups (-SH groups) as the hybrid adsorbents. To determine the best fitting equation, the experimental...

In the present study, activated carbons of Eichornea crasssipes(EC), Sugarcane bagassae(SB), Tea waste(TW) and Guava leaf(GL) were prepared from agricultural wastes and used as an adsorbents for the removal of Acid Blue 92 (AB92) dye from aqueous solution. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and contact time on the extent removal of AB92 has been studied by Batch adso...
متن کاملAdsorption Performance of Low-cost Java Plum Leaves and Guava Fruits as Natural Adsorbents for Removal of Free Fatty Acids from Coconut Oil
This study assesses the adsorption performance of Java plum leaves and guava fruits based adsorbents as natural products widely available in Aceh, Indonesia. These renewable adsorbents were employed to remove free fatty acids (FFAs) that cause the rancid odor in coconut oil. The adsorption tests were carried out at three different doses (50, 75, 100 g) and seven agitating periods (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...
متن کاملRemoval of Congo Red Anionic Dye from Aqueous Solution Using Polyaniline/TiO2 and Polypyrrole/TiO2 Nanocomposites: Isotherm, Kinetic, and Thermodynamic Studies
The present study seeks to investigate the capacity of polyaniline/titanium dioxide (PAn/TiO2) and Polypyrrole/titanium dioxide (PPy/TiO2) nano-adsorbents to adsorb Congo red anionic dye (CR) from aqueous solution. The variables effective in CR adsorption, including adsorbent dose, pH of the solution, contact time, initial dye concentration, and temperature were examined. The study yielded the ...
متن کاملAdsorption of Enrofloxacine on Natural Zeolite - Clinoptilolite
The potential use of Croatian natural zeolite clinoptilolite as alternative adsorbents for removal of enrofloxacin (ENRO) as model pollutant was studied in a batch system. The influence of contact time and initial ENRO concentration on the sorption process was investigated. The percentage removal of ENRO from aqueous phase decreased with an increase in initial concentration. The experimental da...
